A believer’s Guide on How to Grow closer to God Part 2

getting closer to God

Growing closer to God should be the deepest desire of a child of God because He is a caring father and He is so interested in us. To take us further in this teaching, join us as we explore other practices that can help us grow closer to God.

Service and Acts of Love:

Demonstrate your love for God by serving others and showing kindness to those in need. Jesus emphasized the importance of serving others as an expression of love in Matthew 25:40 which says “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Be willing to be a hand of help to people in need with a joyful heart for God loves a joyful giver.

Trust Him always:

Trust in God’s sovereignty and surrender your life to Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” Trusting in God will give you perfect peace knowing He’s in charge and will never fail,

Spiritual Exercise:

Engage in fasting and Praying, meditation and solitude as often as you can. These practices can help you focus on God and develop a deeper intimacy with Him. Observe some quiet time just and the Holy Spirit especially after a word and let Him talk to you in the quiet of the day or night time. My favorite time is at midnight.

Seeking God’s Presence:

Psalm 27:8 says, “My heart says of you, ‘Seek His face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Make it a priority to seek God’s presence through intentional time(through His word or meditation)  spent with Him. Be deliberate and consistent in RUNNING AFTER Him. Do not get discouraged by negative occurrences, keep seeking His presence, be eager to hear what He has to say and be on the Lord’s side.

Gratitude and Contentment:

Cultivate an attitude of gratitude and contentment in all circumstances. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us to present our requests to God with thanksgiving, and the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Be quick to say thank you Daddy for this and that and for a thousand and one things You have done for me and for my family and for this person yes thank God for what He did for others. Make it a routine to say I love You God and I am grateful.

Finally,  growing closer to God is a continuous process so be patient and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in your walk with God. Be consistent and I see God helping you. Amen
