For wine lovers like myself, a trip to La Rioja, a place with the world’s most architecturally savvy and beautiful wineries is a dream come true. Save this post for your trip to Spain! And don’t forget to tag someone you want to visit Spain with😍😍
I had the opportunity to visit Ysios winery, one of the most impressive wineries in La Rioja and the view was breathtaking.
Designed by renowned architect, Santiago Calatrava, the building’s sweeping curves and dramatic lines evoke the graceful vines that produce the renowned wines of the region.
This beautiful winery is made of stone and glass and is designed to resemble the Sierra de Cantabria mountains that surround it. I toured through and over this beautiful winery with a glass of wine in my hand while taking in the beauties of the wonderful view. Ysios Winery is a true gem nestled in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa region.
As I approached the Ysios Winery, the view that greeted my sight was of the striking undulating roof that mimics the mountain range in the background, creating a harmonious connection between the man-made structure and the natural environment.
The play of light on the titanium panels that cover the building added to its allure, changing throughout the day and undoubtedly through the seasons. The interior is just as impressive as the exterior with a sleek, modern design,. Once inside, I was welcomed into a space that combines traditional winemaking techniques with cutting-edge technology.
I was amazed at this winery’s commitment to quality, as it’s evident in every aspect of their winemaking process from the meticulous selection of grapes to the careful aging of the wines in French and American oak barrels.
There’s a tasting room where I sat to sample the winery’s offerings (as you know that I love me some good wines😍😍😍) and a terrace where I stood and admire the views of the surrounding countryside.
I must recommend Ysios as a must see for anyone interested in wine or architecture. Ysios Winery is not only a place where exceptional wines are produced but also a destination that offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of winemaking.
Guided tours of the winery provide insight into the winemaking process, from vine to bottle allowing guests to appreciate the dedication and craftsmanship that goes into each bottle of Ysios wine. So, whether you’re sipping a glass of tempranillo on the terrace or taking a tour of the cellars, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a scene from a fashion magazine.
Be it a Certified Wine Tasting Expert like myself, an architecture enthusiast or someone simply looking to experience the beauty and excellence of the Spanish wine country, a visit to Ysios Winery is sure to be a memorable and enriching experience.
