Rely on the Power of God to overcome your weaknesses and acknowledge your mistakes
Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Acknowledge your mistakes and turn away from sinful habits. 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Replace negative habits with positive ones that honor God.
Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.
Avoid situations that trigger your bad habits and temptations.
1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Seek God’s intervention through prayer to overcome challenges.
Matthew 26:41 –Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Surround Yourself with Positive Influences.
Associate with people who encourage your growth in faith. Proverbs 13:20 – “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
Practice Self-Control;
Develop the fruit of the Spirit, including self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
