After six years since they split up, American actress Halle Berry and French actor Olivier Martinez have finally finished their divorce. Halle Berry, who is 57 years old, will pay $8,000 each month to help take care of their son, Maceo.
Back in July 2013, Berry and Martinez got married and after three years of marriage, they split in December 2016. During their union, the ex couple also welcomed a son, Maceo, in October 2013. It is reported that the former couple had a prenup in place, however there were still other items that needed to be addressed.
Now, nearly six years after their split, the former couple have finally settled on the lingering issues. Per TMZ, the exes had “some unresolved issues on custody and child support” over their son, who is now nine. Because of this, their divorce was never finalized, but now they have agreed to a formal custody and child support arrangement.
As of this month, legal documents were filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, and it is reported that the Oscar Award-winning star will now have “joint legal and physical custody of Maceo.”
Also, she will also have to pay her ex a whopping $8,000 a month in child support, taking care of 100% of Maceo’s expenses from health insurance to therapy, private school tuition, extracurricular activities, and more. Berry will also pay an additional 4.3 percent of all income she pulls in above $2 million.
And as for the custody agreement, Halle Berry will have custody of her son on Monday to Wednesday, while his father Olivier Martinez will have him Wednesday to Friday, and if there are any school closures, custody will vary. The ex couple also agreed to alternate custody of their son on the weekends.
Furthermore, the court documents say that the former couple’s son will be enrolled in individual and family counseling, which Berry and her daughter Nahla, (from her relationship with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry) can sit in during the family sessions. However, it is noted that Berry’s current boyfriend, Van Hunt, is not permitted to participate
