Becoming a better Christian involves personal growth and a deepening of one’s faith. Here are a few tips to help you on this journey:
1. Pray Without Ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17):
– “Pray without ceasing.” Pray always, no matter how you feel or what is happening around you. Teach your children and family members the culture of prayer as it would be as it would guide them in their life’s journey teaching them patience, strengthening them and causing them to rely on God always.
2. Be Generous (2 Corinthians 9:7):
– “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Be a giver, teach your children to give as well. Look for the hungry, the widows, the homeless and the less privileged and stretch out helping hands when you can.
3. Walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16):
– “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Do not always be after earthly pleasures, separate yourself sometimes to seek God in prayer, fasting and meditation. Be sensitive to the voice of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Always let your spirit man be in tune and be at alert per time.
4. Seek Wisdom (Proverbs 4:7):
– “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.” The bible says” let him that lack wisdom ask”; have you sought after God’s wisdom? Where can we find Wisdom; by studying the word of God and by asking.
5.. Share the Gospel (Matthew 28:19-20):
– “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Share your beliefs with others, spreading the message of Christ’s love and salvation. Talk about your testimonies and how God came through for you. Tell your children the wonderful works of God, tell others about Jesus and life experiences that you know would have marred you if God didn’t save you.
These and many more can guide you on your journey to becoming a better Christian.
