Becoming a better Christian involves personal growth and a deepening of one’s faith. Here are tips to help you on your journey:
1. Seek God’s Kingdom First (Matthew 6:33):
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” As Christians, we are faced with the material things of the world on a daily basis but the bible charges us here to seek God first; how? In prayer and studying of the bible. God is not against you having fun in a healthy manner, hang with friends, travel and enjoy love but we must not forget our maker.
2. Love Your Enemies (Matthew 5:44):
“But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Love is something we think happens only when we have that feel-good feeling. Nope here we are charged to love and pray for our enemies 😱! Shocking yeah but then God will always be right, so let’s show love today and pray for our enemies believing God to change them to become better humans.
3. Be Slow to Anger (James 1:19):
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” This instruction is mostly for parents dealing with difficult children, it’s exhausting and emotionally draining to always have to deal with hyperactive kids, but God’s help is available for us; Yes I’m a mom too. Men, women, bosses, Moms and Dads be slow to anger.
4. Practice Forgiveness (Colossians 3:13):
“Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” Dear all, let us learn to forgive. It’s almost impossible to find someone who won’t make us angry but God says we should bear (reason, consider, be patient,) with one another. Let forgiveness be what we deliberately practice on a daily basis
5. Show Compassion (Colossians 3:12):
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” Show love and compassion to everyone, just as Jesus did. Be kind to others, smile often and genuinely at people, stretch a helping hand at any given time. Be a beacon of hope to people.
Remember that being a better Christian is a continuous process, and it’s essential to seek God’s wisdom and rely on His grace all the way
My is grace and light guide me through 🙏. Amen
